Building off of a 2003 study led by Dr. Brian McAdoo, then of Vassar College, Associate Professor of Anthropology April Beisaw and a group of Vassar students resurveyed the grave markers in Brier Hill Cemetery, the graveyard of the former Dutchess County Poorhouse in Millbrook, New York (approximately 15 miles northeast of campus). Prof. Beisaw and her students found some graves that had been missed in 2003, and documented where others have been lost in the last 15 years. This Storymap illustrates some of their findings and history of the site.
