Remote Access to GIS Workstations——Remote Desktop

For working outside of the Sci Vis lab, we have two options:

1. Remote Desktop – remote control access of the computers in the Sci Vis lab

2. Virtual Desktop – a cloud-based virtual desktop accessed through Vapps

If you encounter issues, contact the Service Desk (845) 437-7224, servicedesk@vassar.edu for assistance.

Instructions below assume that you are either logged into the VPN or on campus; if you are off campus and need VPN, request VPN Access from CIS

1. Go to the App store, and download the Microsoft Remote Desktop app.

2. Sign in to the VPN.

6. Once you have imported the .RDP client, then you can open it, and log in with your Vassar email and password.

7. The computer will automatically log in to the Microsoft account under your Vassar email. There is no need to type or change anything on the login page, wait for a few seconds for it to process.
